Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager

analytics

Unless otherwise directed, we will copy your existing Google Analytics code from your current website when launching a new GZCMS site. We also manage a Google Analytics account, and can set up a tracking code for users who do not have their own. You can replace this tracking code at any time if you create a new account or decide to start using some of Google's more advanced features.

Viewing or Replacing the Google Analytics Tracking ID Code

We currently use a WordPress plugin to manage the Google Analytics tracking code.  To view or edit the Tracking ID being used on your GZCMS website:

  • Log in to your GZCMS site as an admin
  • Click on your association name in the black bar at the top of the site to open the Dashboard
  • Click on Google Analytics from the left navigation
  • The Tracking Code should be displayed on the page, where you can replace if needed and Save Changes

FAQ: If you set up Google Analytics tracking for me, do I still need a Google Account?

Yes. If you want to view the website tracking statistics advanced reports, you would need to login to Google Analytics with a Google ID (a free account with Google, it doesn’t require you to be using gmail or any of their services unless you want to, it’s just a way to login).  Once you have a Google account setup, please let us know what email address you used and we will generate an invitation for you to view the tracking data.  (Need to create an account? Click here)

Installing or Replacing a Google Tag Manager Code (Advanced)

Advanced users may wish to install their own codes or scripts on the site. This can be accomplished via the Customizer.

Please Note any time you are adding code to the site via the customizer: This area is not backed up to revert changes, and incomplete code can cause issues with your site. If you are uncertain if the code you're adding is complete, we recommend providing the code to our support team for proper testing rather than adding it yourself. Do not adjust this code if you are not familiar with the code you are manipulating.

Google Tag Manager <script> code snippets can be added within the Customizer under Code > Head Code (for the piece that needs to be within the <head> area) and Code > Header Code (for the piece that needs to be within the <body> area). Remember to include the opening and closing script tags, and do not hesitate to contact our support team if you need assistance installing this code. Learn how to access the Customizer.
